Thorens TD520 Turntable — Grade B

£2,000.00

A super-clean, vintage Thorens turntable from the 1980s with timeless styling.

One of the best features of this deck is its fully suspended design. The platter and tonearm are spring-mounted, helping to isolate them from external vibrations and significantly reduce unwanted resonance.

It is slightly wider and deeper than many modern turntables, but that extra size reflects its exceptionally sturdy construction—built to a standard rarely seen in today’s designs.

The turntable performs exactly as it should, with stable speed and excellent tracking ability. It comes fitted with a Stanton 681 cartridge, and we can also supply and professionally install and calibrate a new cartridge of your choice prior to shipping, ensuring quick and easy setup on arrival.

Condition is very good on everything, except the cover which has some scratches but is structurally sound.

Description

The Thorens TD-520 is a worthy successor to the classic TD-126 mkII.

It is a more massive version of Thoren’s twin solid core chassis design incorporating fine pitch adjustment and the new 12″ TP-90 high precision tonearm.

It retains the 78rpm speed with electronic cueing and shut-off.

Fitted with 16-pole synchronous motor with 2-phase generator. Available without a tonearm as the TD-521.
